We Need Answers

giraffes have questions

Did you know that we exclusively interview every single who joins? Well sort of. We’re talking about the Q&A part of your profile. Answering your questions is a great way to add personality and bring out all your unique qualities. Here’s what you need to know about this feature…

What Is Q&A?

It’s part of your profile. There are 14 questions to answer, ranging from what you do for fun to your perfect Sunday.

How Many Questions Should I Answer?

Each question is designed to show off a different area of your personality, so it makes sense to answer as many as you can. Think of this sort of being like a dating CV, you want to look like an all-rounder and attract as many people as possible. It makes sense to cover all your bases as people are searching for different things. For example, if you express your love of vegetarian cuisine, a fellow foodie will find you. If you also talk of your extensive stamp collection – that brings in a whole different crowd.

Which Ones Should I Answer?

There are no rules when it comes to which ones to answer. The best thing to do is answer them all, but if you want to prioritise certain ones, here are our top five:

  1. What do you like to do for fun?
  2. What is the most interesting fact about you?
  3. What is your favourite place in the world to visit?
  4. What is your favourite meal?
  5. What did you want to be when you were growing up?

We’ll explain. What you like to do for fun is important to include because it easily provides follow up questions in messages and on dates later on. Everyone loves to have fun, so it’s an easy question to answer. Your most interesting fact is important because it shows your uniqueness. The trick here is to write something that really sets you out from the crowd. Your favourite place says a lot about you and can be a great conversation starter. Your favourite meal is a fun way of getting to know how creative and adventurous you are, as can what you wanted to be growing up.

How Should I Answer Them?

Treat your Q&A like a real life date. If someone asked you any of these questions, you wouldn’t, or at least we hope you wouldn’t reply with a one word answer. Always elaborate and answer in full sentences. This then shows that you are genuine, thoughtful and entertaining. Compare these two answer examples:

Q: Who or what do you secretly want to be?

A1: Astronaut

A2: I’ve always wanted to be an astronaut. You get to see the world, eat cheese out of a tube. I just need space.

The first answer gives nothing away and can be easily dismissed. The second one is more detailed and would lead more easily to more questions.

It’s now time for your interview. To summarize, create talking points, write full sentences and try to answer as many questions as you can.
