Just Singles On Location: Glasgow

Every week we show you the best places to go for the perfect first date. This week, impress with a trip to the vibrant city of Glasgow…

You may have been to the city centre a hundred times and walked past this place, but the world-famous Willow Tea Rooms is a must-visit in Glasgow. Designed by the internationally renowned Charles Mackintosh in the early 1900’s, it’s still one of the most visited tourist destination in the city. Get to know each other over cream tea, shortbread and cakes and let the sparks fly whilst admiring the beautiful interior. If your tea went well, head down to the gift shop to admire some wonderful works of art and maybe treat your date to a souvenir?

3 floors, 6 bars and 9 different drinking areas – even if your date goes badly you can go your separate ways and still drink in the same bar! Waxy O’Connor’s is one of the most unique bars in Glasgow; the interior decor makes you feel like you’ve walked in to a giant tree house, and the wide selection of drinks and great atmosphere make it the perfect setting for a cozy first date. If you can pull yourself away from the fire and into Glasgow’s busy nightlife, head down to Gin71 for a sophisticated, and fun, time. There’s 71 different gin-based drinks to choose from along with wine, beer, cocktails and champagne – perfect for the picky date!

Something Different…

If you’re looking for something a little different to do in Glasgow that doesn’t include a tipple, try the Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre and give your date a Tim Burton-esque experience they won’t forget. Carved figures and sculptures made out of old scrap dance to eery music and lights, telling you funny and haunting stories of the circle of life. A great date to show of your ‘artistic’ side and teach them about something new.
