Today is World Smile Day! Celebrated on the first Friday of October every year, the message of World Smile Day is; “Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile.” What a lovely sentiment! So with that in mind, we thought we’d give you a few profile tips to (hopefully) give you, and your fellow online daters, something to smile about…

Don’t go overboard
No one finds it easy writing a lot about themselves and it will actually work in your favour to keep your profile text short and sweet. Just a few hints about your personality and interests should be enough to entice other members to strike up a conversation with you. It’s all about leaving them wanting more!

Be unique
Don’t just write about how you sometimes like to go out, but also sometimes like to stay in (yawn)… make your profile stand out from the crowd and let your personality shine through! Think about what it is that makes you you. Why not add a joke or a witty comment to catch someone’s attention?

Let your photos do the talking
Remember, you can add as many as 30 photos to your profile (if you have that many) so don’t just leave it at one! Adding a few interesting photos can be the perfect conversation starter for other members – just what you need to break the ice!

Smile
Most importantly, as it is World Smile Day, make sure you SMILE! People are much more likely to send you a message if you look happy and approachable in your profile photos. Ok, I’m sure the mysterious, sophisticated look you were going for is working wonders but why not add a couple more smiley photos? See what a difference a smile can make!
