It starts with you… Do what makes you happy this month!
At Just Singles, we want everyone to find their prince or princess, however it’s still important to look after number one. YOU!
We all have problems, flaws and insecurities but we think it’s about time we put them aside for a second, and focus on ourselves this month! It’s time to do the things you say you can’t find the time for, do some things that scare you and also do some things that help you kick back and relax.
Here are some feel-good ways to make it all about you this week!
1) Read a book
There’s nothing better than losing yourself in a book. Whether you like fiction or non fiction, crime thrillers or laugh out loud comedies, get reading. It’ll focus your mind away from the hustle and bustle and transport you. Head to your local library or book store and pick something up. Maybe there’s a book you’ve been meaning to read for ages or perhaps you are best to pick something at random. Who knows, the literary world is your oyster. The pages beckon…
2) Get exploring
GET. OUT. THE. HOUSE. There’s nothing worse than being cooped up inside. Go out and walk or maybe cycle and explore something local that you’ve been too busy to notice before. Take your phone with you for safety but try to focus on what’s around you. Observe buildings, wildlife and the little things you’ve always been to busy to notice before. You may even find yourself the perfect little cafe or peaceful park away from everything.
3) Take up a new hobby
Rather than spending hours in front of the TV, a computer or your phone, why not find a new hobby! There’s hundreds to choose from depending on your interests. Crafts, painting, learn a new language, take up a new sport, the possibilities are endless. If it’s something active or crafty, keep an eye out for classes around your area! Doing something new will help you feel calmer and happier and give you a great sense of achievement.
4) Go to that gym you signed up to last month…
I know, I know… We don’t want to go either. The thing is, we both know we will feel much better after. To help you get back into it, perhaps book into a fitness class, or boot camp or maybe even get yourself a PT! That way you’ll find it hard to find excuses not to go. Get your trainers on and get those good endorphin’s going.
5) Treat yourself to something new
Go on, get your credit card out and splurge. If it’s something you really really want. Get it! Whether it’s a brand new watch, a spa day, that coat you really wanted, or those designer shoes you’ve been drooling over for years, make it happen. Keep whatever it safe, and get it out whenever you have a hard day to cheer yourself up.
6) Actually get 8 hours of sleep in
Unfortunately this involves some sacrifices. Getting into bed early being one of them. Try to steer away from electronic screens and clear your mind ready for climbing into bed. Believe us, it’s worth the hassle when you wake up refreshed and invigorated for the next day. Try to read a book or drink a hot (decaf) drink to help you retire to the land of nod a little easier.
7) Have a clear out
Get rid of all that rubbish you’ve been stashing away. Get rid of old clothes and anything you haven’t used in 3 months. Bin it all and give it away to local charity shops. You’ll have that great cleansing feeling from the sort out, and a good feeling from giving to charitable ventures. Win win!
8) Volunteer
OK, so this is all about you, but how about you devote some time to others. There’s many nationwide homeless kitchens you could volunteer at, as well as animal re-homing shelters. Both are nearly always on the lookout for new volunteers, so get signed up and start giving back. You never know, it could earn you some good karma!
9) Attempt meditation
Clearing your mind is a lot easier said than done, but practising meditation can really help busy individuals or those prone to stress. Take some time away from your busy life to sit and be. You’ll come around a whole new person.
10) Plan a trip for the future
Give yourself something to look forward to. Plan a trip, home or abroad and mark it in your diary or give yourself a countdown. You’ll have plenty of time to get excited about your trip prospects and it might also help you keep motivated with your diet or fitness goals too.
Why not start spoiling yourself in 5..4..3..2… GO!
Until next time,
