How To: Take A Great Selfie

The 21st June was National Selfie Day, but no one needs an excuse to take awesome photos of themselves. Want to up your selfie game and get wayy more attention as a result? You’ve come to the right place. Here’s what you need to know…

What is a selfie?

A selfie is a self-portrait photograph, typically taken with a smartphone which may be held in the hand or supported by a selfie stick.

Why should I take one?

Research has found that singles find clear, head and shoulder photos the most attractive in the online dating world. This sort of photo is exactly what a selfie is! You could always get someone else to take your photo, but why bother when taking a selfie is so easy to do?!

How do I take a selfie?

Grab your smartphone. If your phone has a camera on the front, switch to this so you can see your face better. Lift the camera a little higher than your eye-line – this will allow you to get the best angle and light. Make sure you are in natural light, you don’t want any pesky shadows aging you!  Extend your arm in front of your face as much as you can, so you can get as much of your shoulders in – avoid looking like an egg in a super close-up!

How do I upload my selfie?

On a desktop, go to Profile > Photos > Upload your first photo/Add Photo > Choose Photo

You will now be given the option to Crop & Rotate. Your photo will be what appears in the square, so if you’re not happy you can move your photo around or drag the dots to zoom in or out of the image. When you are happy click Add Photo. Once your photo has been approved it will be visible on the site.

On a mobile, go to Profile > Click on the + sign > Photo Library > Find your photo

So go on, get creative and show JustSingles your smile!

Until next time,
