People tell you all the time – you must complete your profile, you have to say this and you should always use these words and you can’t mention your ex no matter what you do… This can get boring and preachy and leave you completely uninspired, staring at your empty profile screaming, “How do I write about myself?! Someone help me!!” We’ve been there my friend. So have many others. But they got through it, wrote their profiles and made it into this blog.

That’s right, we’ve been making a note of our favourite profiles from the site and included them here to inspire you. These are all real profiles, we just haven’t included the person’s real name. Have a read and see if they trigger a light-bulb moment for you…

Jane

“Confident, sane lady who is trialing this method of dating! I love adventure, laughter, the finer things in life and finally – making every minute count. I prefer : experiences to material possessions, spas to pubs, music to watching TV , emotions to numbness, excitement to the mundane, sunshine to rain (but snow is good fun), passion to merely dawdling along, gin to beer , mindfulness to bad manners, cheesy music to heavy metal, comedies to horror films… I could on for a while here! I like to travel, read (James Patterson , the Secret , other “spiritual” books – and OK – I will admit it chic lit as well!) Looking for an honest guy around the same age, with the same values, lifestyle, and someone is not afraid to step out of their comfort zone.”

Thumbs up because:

She gets straight to it, adding personality and humour. Her method of listing is positive, instead of coming out with I don’t like rain, she says what she prefers, which maintains her positivity. She covers all her bases, telling us about a variety of likes and dislikes. Try listing things you like in your profile.

“What do I say about myself? Well I work 6 nights a week, yep night work sorry! But that doesn’t stop me having fun with the people I know and love. I am 5ft10, about 14 stone with blue eyes. I’m told I have a good sense of humour, if slightly sarcastic in nature. I’m a non-smoker so no smokers please. I drink but not much due to work. I’m looking for someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously and can enjoy themselves. No one over 6ft as I’m not, but other than that I don’t have a type.”

Thumbs up because:

He is honest about his work from the beginning. He is not as detailed Woman A, but this just means that he’s concentrating on what’s important to him. Try only writing about the 3 key aspects of your life, whether they are work, family, hobbies or lifestyle. This will keep your About Me to the point.

So have a go yourself, it’s all about finding what works for you. On JustSingles, your About Me is just the beginning. Next week we’ll show you some great answers to profile questions!

Until next time,
