Go for a walk

It’s free, it doesn’t take much planning and it’s great exercise – what’s not to love? Whether you’re a city-dweller or country bumpkin there’s always somewhere to walk. If you’re in a city, check out some famous landmarks, if you’re in the countryside why not try and find a nice little route around a local park.

Ride bicycles

Much like walking, getting out and exploring the local area is not only great fun but also good exercise. Being out and about also gives plenty of topics for conversation so you can be sure there will be no awkward silences.

Find a local museum

You’d be surprised how many small museums are around so have a Google and find something you’d both enjoy. From The Derwent Pencil Museum in Cumbria to Wycombe Chair Museum, you’re bound to find something local – and the great thing is, they’re often free!

Go wine tasting

What better excuse could there be for sitting outside on a warm spring evening drinking wine? Look for local vineyards and wine tasting days.

Find a farmer’s market

There are loads around and they’re a great way to learn about the local community. You’ll more than likely find something you like whether it’s a tasty, rustic loaf of bread of some locally brewed cider. Some markets also have stools for local craft businesses so why not buy your date a gift and give them a reason to keep thinking about you once the date ends.

Have a picnic

Yeah, maybe it’s cheesy but who cares? We love a good picnic and we’re sure your date will too!
