Date Ideas For: Single Parents
We’re celebrating Mother’s Day this Sunday in the UK and Ireland, and wanted to show the yummy mummies out there some love! You work hard all year, but now’s the time for some TLC. Sit back, relax, log in to Just Single Parents and take a browse through our date ideas for single parents. (Dad’s welcome too!)
Take The Kids
We know we promised you some ‘me’ time, but how about going on a date as a family? If you’ve been on a few dates alone, a trip to the zoo or local farm could be the perfect way for your new partner to meet your kids in a relaxed setting. If they’ve got children, it will turn into a mini play-date for them too! Plus it’s fun, active and is perfect for the summer months.
Cook Dinner
Play a little game of Come Dine With Me and cook a meal for each other at home. You can put the kids to bed (or ship them off to Grandma’s house) while you enjoy a relaxed evening at home. It will give you the chance to get to know each other better and you won’t need to hire a babysitter.
Go On A Lunchtime Date
Take advantage of the fact the kids are at school or nursery and meet your date at lunchtime if you’re closeby. Grab a bite to eat in a local cafe or take a stroll in the park – your date will appreciate the extra hour they get to see you. Warning: This might leave you daydreaming about your gorgeous date when you get back to your desk!
Take The Night Off
You have to indulge yourself and take the night off from the children every once in awhile. Book a babysitter and be free and single again. Watch that play you’ve been waiting to see, go to that new cocktail bar or even stay over in a hotel overnight. Remember – you might be a parent, but you’re so much more than that too!
Go Dancing
It’s a great way to get fit, have fun and get to know each other at the same time. Your town will be filled with dance classes to take together, from Salsa to Ballroom to Hip Hop, you can find a class that suits your personality. You’ll be full of energy and will have to get up-close and personal with your date! Can’t dance? Don’t worry – you’ll have great fun laughing over your lack of rhythm and misplaced steps. Your date won’t expect you to be Darcey Bussell!
