Date Ideas for: Literature Lovers

Literature Lovers

Everyone is different, and so is their idea of a perfect date. This makes planning a suitable date near impossible! This is why Just Singles thought it was time to step-in, and begin a whole series of blog posts dedicated to the ultimate date ideas for all groups of society, from tree-huggers to tech lovers, TV addicts to train spotters- we’ve got you covered…

Let’s begin with the lovers of literature. You’ve found yourself dating a person who loves nothing better than curling up with a good book, or chilling with their Kindle. Here are 6 novel ideas to re-Kindle romance…

1. Private book club

Pick a book to read together, something that re-unites you both. It could be a particular genre you both enjoy, a mutually respected author, or a number one bestseller. You could read sections aloud together or talk about it together after you’ve both finished it. Book lovers never fail to find different interpretations of a book fascinating.

2. Add milk and sugar

Find discussing Dante daunting? If you’re not as keen on literature as your date is, why not head to a local bookshop that has a coffee shop inside. Most major bookstores have small coffee and tea stores inside now, which is perfect for dating. The book lover will be surrounded by books, whilst you can sit back and drink coffee, helping yourself stay awake through their debate about which Catherine Cookson is best.

3. Mix with the authors

Find local book signings or author meet-and-greet events to attend. They’re always touring major bookstores, and it might be someone you’ve actually heard of if you’re not a keen reader yourself. From celebrity chefs to the latest reality stars, you can meet them face-to-face and even get their autobiography personally signed.

4. Where the magic happened

Research where famous writers from your area lived and visit their homes/museums. This gets you and your date out and about, whilst still sticking to that literary theme. See for yourself where the magic happened, and who knows? It may inspire yourself into becoming the next J.K Rowling…

5. Share the love

Go to a bookstore together and leave notes in your favorite books to future readers. By doing this you combine the thrill of doing something out of the ordinary with spreading your ideas about a book. Write your notes with your date and see who can make theirs the funniest or most surprising…

6. Based on the novel

Recreate famous dates from book scenes. For example the famous boat scene from The Notebook (hopefully minus the rain), a helicopter tour from 50 Shades of Grey or a ballroom dance inspired by Pride and Prejudice.

See? You don’t need to be Shakespeare to woo a modern day book lover. With these tips you’ll now be word perfect!

Until next time,
